This edition of Bill of Rights in Action looks at the idea of justice. The first article explores the Whiskey Rebellion, an armed insurrection that threatened the new American republic. Leaders of the rebellion objected to what they considered an unjust federal tax on whiskey. The second article looks at Cicero, the leading champion of the Roman Republic, and his ideas on the just state. The last article explores John Rawls, who many consider the greatest political philosopher of the 20th century, and his ideas on justice.
