Your Region 11 Training and Technical Assistance Network is dedicated to developing your capacity to incorporate best practices of service-learning into your school or community-based program. Each of the following training and technical assistance providers are state certified through the CA Department of Education to provide a variety of workshops to meet your service-learning needs. knoff_paulPaul Knopf works for Pomona Unified School District as the Teacher Specialist for Service-Learning and Community Engagement. He also teaches on service-learning at Cal Poly Pomona in the College of Education. Mr. Knopf is also the Founder/Director of a non-profit organization called, "What in the World Are You Doing" that focuses on artistic expression, healthy living, and community service-learning. medina_gregorio.jpgGregorio Medina is a Senior Program Director of Constitutional Rights Foundation (CRF) in Los Angeles and has over 15 years of experience in providing trainings to youth, educators, and program staff seeking ways to integrate civics-based service learning in to their classroom or community-based programs. Since 1962, CRF has used a variety of publications and programs to prepare its participants for informed and responsible citizenship by familiarizing them with the legal, political, and economic systems of their communities and the values essential to our democratic society. moore_katie.jpgKatie Moore is the Region 11 Service-Learning Co Lead & Senior Program Director with Constitutional Rights Foundation (CRF). Katie works in a variety of capacities at CRF that include direct-service programs and teacher training. She works closely with the LA County Office of Education and is instrumental in introducing and supporting service learning to a wide variety of teachers, youth, administrators and school districts across the county. julieanntaylorJulie Ann Taylor is currently the Service Learning Manager for TreePeople, a private, non-profit environmental organization that has been serving Los Angeles for over three decades. TreePeople’s mission is to inspire, engage and support people to take personal responsibility for the urban environment, making it safe, healthy, fun and sustainable and to share the results as a model for the world. As one of the largest environmental educators in the U.S., TreePeople has initiated numerous large-scale public and youth education programs. For the past 10 years, Ms. Taylor has been providing professional development workshops on environmental service learning as well as supporting over 200 teachers per year in completing service projects in LA County. vierra_erinErin Viera-Orr is the California Program Manager for Jane Goodall’s Roots & Shoots. Erin began her career path in afterschool programming where she worked with teachers and afterschool program leaders to incorporate academic content into engaging, project based environments. Service learning and community engagement became a key component of her work. Now with the Jane Goodall Institute, each year Erin presents and leads workshops at numerous regional and national teacher conferences each year.
