Civic
Engagement Training & Technical Assistance (CETTA)
In the summer of 2001, Constitutional
Rights Foundation (CRF) contracted with the Corporation
for National and Community Service (CNCS) to provide citizenship
training and technical assistance for CNCS-funded programs.
CETTA’s Purpose
- To provide
training and technical assistance to national service programs and
their members.
- To promote
CNCS's emphasis on civic engagement.
These goals
are realized through training of trainers events designed to (1) develop
a national cadre of experts to provide on-site assistance; (2) provide
practice and feedback opportunities for national-service participants
attending member-training events; (3) offer technical assistance and
follow-up support.
CETTA’s Training Goals
Members will be able to:
Understand the value of lifelong citizenship and service for the common
good;
Develop skills to discuss and explore their communities and connect
with the people, processes, and institutions that are most effective
for improving community conditions;
Plan and implement effective service projects that respond to real community
needs;
Develop the social, cultural, and analytical skills necessary to effectively
participate in American democracy.
Civic Engagement Training Curriculum
CETTA provides online, downloadable, civic engagement lessons.
- Active
Citizens 101 Curriculum and Evaluation (New)
- A Facilitator's
Guide for "By the People" This trainer's guide consists of ten, 2-hour
sessions chock full of icebreakers and energizers. The lessons lead
participants through personal development related to civic engagement.
- A Guide
to Effective Citizenship through AmeriCorps An easy-to-follow training
curriculum developed specifically for AmeriCorps programs. These ten,
2-hour modules connect civics with service to provide exciting service-learning
experiences for participants.
