Free tickets to see SELMA

Thanks to the efforts of CRF Board Member T. Warren Jackson and other community leaders, over 8,000 students in the 10th or 11th grades can see SELMA for free in selected theaters in Los Angeles while supplies last! Students can go on their own, or teachers can reserve free tickets for groups of at least 25, but act quickly before all of the free tickets are used! Click here for a list of theaters and group ticket information. Click here for a list of contacts for group reservations and a flyer.

This film provides a great opportunity to teach about civil rights (perfect for the 11th grade U.S. history standards). We have several resources you can use in your classroom:

1. History, articles, and discussion activities
2. A lesson focused on the Montgomery Bus Boycott
3. A lesson focused on Brown v. Board of Education

In addition, a comprehensive curriculum for the film is available from BazanED.

If your students go see SELMA and would like to thank Warren and the rest of the people who made free tickets possible, please send notes to Keri Doggett at CRF, and she will forward.
